जीवमण्डल की परिभाषा (Definition Of Biosphere)
स्थल, जल और वायु के मध्य का वह सीमित क्षेत्र जहाँ जीवन मौजूद है, जीवमण्डल कहलाता है।
The limited area between land, water and air where life exists is called biosphere.

जीवमण्डल की विशेषताएँ (Characteristics Of The Biosphere)
जीवमण्डल की प्रमुख विशेषताएँ निम्नलिखित हैं–
1. जीवमण्डल स्थल, जल और वायु के मध्य का क्षेत्र है। इस मण्डल में स्थल, जल और वायु तीनों उपस्थित रहते हैं।
2. जीवमण्डल पर जीवन सम्भव है।
3. जीवमण्डल में विभिन्न प्रजातियों के जीव निवास करते हैं। यहाँ पर छोटे-छोटे बैक्टीरिया और सूक्ष्मजीवों से लेकर बड़े स्तनधारी जीव निवास करते हैं।
4. जीवमण्डल के सभी जीव, जीवित रहने के लिए एक-दूसरे से और जीवमण्डल से जुड़े हुए रहते हैं।
5. जीवमण्डल पृथ्वी के अन्य तीन परिमण्डलों के साथ पारस्परिक क्रिया करता है। ये सभी परिमण्डल एक-दूसरे को किसी न किसी रूप में प्रभावित करते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए वनों का विनाश होने से मिट्टी में कटाव तेजी से होने लगता है। इससे भूकम्प, बाढ़ आदि के दुष्प्रभावों का सामना करना पड़ता है।
The main characteristics of biosphere are as follows–
1. Biosphere is the area between land, water and air. Land, water and air are present in this circle.
2. Life is possible on the biosphere.
3. Different species of organisms live in the biosphere. From small bacteria and microorganisms to large mammals live here.
4. All the organisms in the biosphere are connected to each other and to the biosphere to survive.
5. The biosphere interacts with the other three circles of the earth. All these circles influence each other in some way or the other. For example, due to the destruction of forests, soil erosion starts rapidly. It has to face the ill effects of earthquake, flood etc.
